Ohio State defeats Illinois women's soccer with three second-half goals

Illinois women's soccer lost 3-0 to No. 23 Ohio State on Sunday at Demirjian Park, marking their first home defeat of the season. The Illini now hold a record of 9-2-1 overall and 2-2-1 in Big Ten play, while Ohio State improved to 5-1-5 overall and 1-0-4 in conference matches.

All three goals were scored by Ohio State in the second half. Ava Bramblett netted two goals for the Buckeyes, and Elle Britt added a third.

Illinois' closest opportunity came early in the match when Sarah Foley's shot in the sixth minute nearly crossed the goal line before being cleared by Ohio State's goalkeeper.

Goalkeeper Izzy Lee made six saves for Illinois. Ohio State outshot Illinois 11 to 9 and had nine shots on target compared to four for Illinois.

The Fighting Illini will play their next match on the road against Maryland on Sunday, October 5, at 11 a.m. Central Time.
