Rose Yeboah, a graduate student at the University of Illinois, made history by becoming the first Ghanaian woman high jumper to reach the finals at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. During Thursday's qualifying round, Yeboah cleared 1.92 meters (6-3 1/2), earning her a spot among top competitors worldwide. She is also noted as the first Ghanaian athlete since 2005 to advance to an individual final at these championships.

In Sunday's final, Yeboah achieved a height of 1.88 meters (6-2), finishing in 15th place overall. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in recreation, sport & tourism at the University of Illinois.

Yeboah's performance highlights her as Scholar Athlete of the Week for September 15-21, 2025.
