Illinois women's golf team holds an 11-stroke lead after the second round of the Badger Invitational in Madison, Wisconsin. The team posted a score of 277, which is 11-under par for the round and marks the fourth lowest single-round score in program history. After two rounds, Illinois stands at 13-under with a total score of 563.
The Illini have now finished below par as a team in both rounds played this season. On Monday, they recorded 27 birdies and one eagle. Victoria Zheng made a hole-in-one on the 12th hole from 161 yards out, marking the team's second ace in as many tournaments.
Zheng and Alexis Myers each shot career-best rounds of 67 (-5) on day two. Zheng's performance matched her previous best at last year's Illini Women's Invitational at Medinah. She finished her round with an eagle and six birdies. Myers has either improved or matched her previous scores in every round so far this year and tallied seven birdies during Monday's play. Both players are tied for fourth place entering the final round.
Erica Lee carded an even-par 72 to join Zheng and Myers in a tie for fourth place overall.
Anna Ritter and Brielle Mapanao are tied for 21st after two days. Ritter posted her first sub-par round of the season with a score of 71 (-1), while Mapanao finished with a 75 (+3).
Tavia Burgess, competing as an individual, achieved her best round of the season with a score of 71 (-1). She is currently tied for 15th heading into Tuesday's final round.
The third and final round will begin Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. CT with a shotgun start.
