Illinois women’s golf is tied for first place after the opening round of the Badger Invitational in Madison, Wisconsin. The team posted a combined score of 286, two strokes under par, marking its first sub-par team round this season and the first since last year’s Big Ten Championship opening round.

Erica Lee led Illinois with a career-best 68, four under par. She recorded five birdies on the back nine and enters day two tied for second individually. Brielle Mapanao finished at even par with a 72, tying her for ninth place. This marks her second even-par round in four rounds this season.

Victoria Zheng and Alexis Myers both carded 73 (+1) and are tied for 14th place. Zheng made two birdies on the back nine as she looks to continue her momentum into the next round.

Anna Ritter finished with a 76 (+4), placing her in a tie for 43rd. Competing as an individual, Tavia Burgess posted a 75 (+3) and is tied for 36th.

The Illini will return to action Monday morning at 9 a.m. CT for the second round of play.
