Brielle Mapanao, Golf player | University of Illinois Fighting Illini Women's Golf
Fighting Illini seniors Brielle Mapanao, Anna Ritter, and Victoria Zheng have been named to the Big Ten Women's Golf Preseason Players to Watch List, according to an announcement from the conference.
Mapanao is in her second year with Illinois after transferring from Western Carolina. In the previous season, she posted a scoring average of 75.17 over 36 rounds and finished in the top 20 twice, including a tie for 12th at the Spring Break Shootout. She began the current season with a top-15 finish at the Wolverine Invitational.
Ritter is entering her fourth season with Illinois. Last year, she achieved a career-best scoring average of 74.03 over 33 rounds and recorded four top-10 finishes. Her best performance was fourth place at the Boilermaker Invitational. Ritter started this season by tying for seventh at the Wolverine Invitational.
Zheng joined Illinois last year after transferring from Augusta University. She recorded a scoring average of 73.64 over 36 rounds, which was second on the team. Zheng had four top-10 finishes last season, highlighted by tying for fifth at the Big Ten Championships and earning All-Big Ten Tournament honors.
The Fighting Illini women's golf team will continue their season on September 14 when they compete in the Badger Invitational in Madison, Wisconsin.
