The University of Illinois announced that tickets for the upcoming football game against Ohio State on October 11 are sold out. The matchup, which will take place at Memorial Stadium, is expected to draw significant attention as Illinois enters the season ranked #12 in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll and Ohio State holds the #2 spot as defending national champion.
While tickets for this high-profile game are no longer available, single-game tickets can still be purchased for Illinois' six other home games through their official ticket website. Limited availability remains for games against Western Michigan on September 13 and USC on September 27.
For the first time in at least two decades, Illinois has sold out of season tickets. This includes all seats in Memorial Stadium suites, Colonnades Club, and 77 Club sections. Student season tickets are still being offered; however, students are encouraged to act quickly as a sellout is anticipated for a second consecutive year.
"Illinois enters the season ranked #12 in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll, while defending national champion Ohio State is ranked #2. The Fighting Illini begin the season ranked in the Coaches Poll top 15 for the first time since 1990."
The team returns 16 starters from last season—one of the highest numbers nationally—and brings back 18 players from last year's Cheez-It Citrus Bowl squad that finished #16 in the final Coaches Poll.
Fans looking to purchase or resell tickets can visit SeatGeek, which serves as the official ticket marketplace for Illinois Athletics.
