Illinois assistant coach Heath Baldwin secured a silver medal in the decathlon at the USATF Outdoor National Championships held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Baldwin achieved a score of 8,407 points, earning him qualification for the World Athletics Championships scheduled to take place in Tokyo from September 13 to 21. He will represent the United States at this event.

This marks Baldwin’s first appearance at an outdoor World Athletics Championships. Earlier this year, he competed in his first indoor World Athletics Championships in Nanjing, China, where he finished fourth in the heptathlon with 6,188 points.

"I am excited to represent my country on one of the biggest stages and grateful for all the support from Illinois and my coaching colleagues," Baldwin said.
