City staff from several departments participated in the Love & Peace Barbecue held on Sunday, July 27, at Douglass Park. The event aimed to strengthen community ties and support young residents by providing meals, a dance contest, organized activities, and school supply giveaways.
Among those attending were City Manager Walls, Mayor Deborah Frank Feinen, and Council Members Williams and Clayborn. Staff from the Police Department, Fire Department, and Equity and Engagement Department also joined the event. Police and Fire personnel distributed school supplies to children, offered safety information, and provided snacks.
Organizers described the barbecue as an opportunity to bring people together for a positive cause focused on youth engagement.
