Senior Fighting Illini football players Luke Altmyer, J.C. Davis, and Xavier Scott are set to represent Illinois at the Big Ten Media Days in Las Vegas. The event is scheduled from July 22 to July 24, with Illinois' participants and head coach Bret Bielema starting the proceedings on the first day.
Luke Altmyer, a prominent quarterback returning for another season, recorded 2,717 passing yards and 22 touchdowns last year. He played a crucial role in leading Illinois to a 10-3 record, matching the program's single-season wins record. Altmyer is noted for his ability to execute game-winning drives in critical moments, having achieved this feat five times in his career.
J.C. Davis serves as Illinois' starting left tackle and was recognized as an All-Big Ten Third Team selection last season. With 37 consecutive starts under his belt, Davis was also named to the AP All-Bowl Team after allowing no pressures during Illinois' victory over #14 South Carolina in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl.
Xavier Scott earned a spot on the All-Big Ten First Team and was one of only 15 defensive backs nationwide to be listed as a semifinalist for the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award last season. Entering this year with 25 career starts, Scott has accumulated 121 tackles, defended 24 passes, and secured six interceptions.
