Illinois athletes earn academic honors from Big Ten Conference

The Big Ten Conference has announced the student-athletes who have been named to the Academic All-Big Ten team for spring sports. To qualify for this recognition, student-athletes must be in at least their second academic year at their institution and maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

A total of 81 student-athletes from Illinois were honored across eight spring sports programs. The sports include baseball, men's golf, men's tennis, men's track and field, softball, women's golf, women's tennis, and women's track and field.

In baseball, students such as Gavin Bennett (Finance) and Cameron Chee-Aloy (Undeclared) were recognized. From the men's golf team, Jackson Buchanan (Operations Management) and Max Herendeen (Advertising) received honors.

The men's tennis team saw athletes like Tyler Bowers (Molecular & Cellular Biology) being acknowledged. In men's track and field, Evan Cummins (Finance) was among those named.

Softball players such as Paige Berkmeyer (Animal Science) also made the list. Women's golf included honorees like Lexanne Halama (BSLAS/MS Integrative Biology).

Women's tennis players such as Kida Ferrari (Strategic Business Development & Entrepreneurship) were recognized as well. Lastly, from women's track and field, Mabry Bruhn (Animal Science) was among those honored.
