The Illinois men's track and field team concluded their participation in the NCAA West Preliminaries at E.B. Cushing Stadium, Texas A&M, with two athletes securing spots in the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Kam Garrett and Viktor Morozov both qualified for the national event, which will be held in Eugene, Oregon.
Garrett excelled in the high jump, successfully clearing all four bars on his first attempts. His progression included heights of 2.04m (6-8 1/4), 2.09m (6-10 1/4), 2.14m (7-0 1/4), and a final clearance of 2.17m (7-1 1/2). This achievement marks his second consecutive qualification for the national outdoor championships in this event.
Morozov also secured his place by achieving a clean sheet in the triple jump, recording a leap of 15.93m (52-3 1/4) on his second attempt. Like Garrett, this is Morozov's second consecutive qualification for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
