Champaign hosts conference focusing on neighborhood engagement

The Neighborhood Services Department organized the 2025 Champaign Neighborhood Network Conference on May 9, 2025. The event began with opening remarks from Mayor Fienen at the breakfast reception. Over 100 community leaders from neighborhood groups, community organizations, and governmental units participated.

Throughout the day, various City Departments conducted workshops. These included the City Manager’s Office, Equity and Engagement, Planning and Development, Public Works, Police, Fire, Library, and Neighborhood Services. The workshops focused on sharing information about City goals and engagement efforts.

City Manager Joan Walls delivered a keynote speech during lunch. She emphasized the City's dedication to neighborhood-based engagement and organizing. Walls also issued a call to action with her statement “It’s On” to those present.
