On May 3, 2025, the annual 'Smoke Alarm Blitz' took place for the eleventh time, with more than 60 volunteers participating. This community initiative is dedicated to honoring those who have lost their lives in residential fires and aims to prevent such tragedies in the future. Volunteers visited neighborhoods around Spalding Park, distributing 125 informational bags filled with fire safety literature and instructions on how to schedule smoke alarm installations.

During the event, teams were able to access 21 homes and installed a total of 58 smoke alarms. The event has a strong tradition of service and hopes to continue growing in the future. Organizers expressed gratitude towards the E&E and NSD staff, CFD firefighters, and all volunteers involved in this important cause. Special recognition was given to Fire Chief Andy Quarnstrom, Mayor Fienen, Council Member Vanna Pianfetti, and Senator Paul Faraci for their support.
