The Champaign Police Department, in collaboration with the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Illinois State Police, and over 200 local law enforcement agencies, concluded a traffic campaign targeting distracted driving throughout April. This initiative supported Distracted Driving Awareness Month, aiming to encourage attentiveness among motorists.

Champaign Police dedicated 28 hours of enforcement, concentrating on major roads impacting neighborhoods. The result of this campaign included: "26 citations for distracted driving, 5 citations for speeding, 4 citations for driving without insurance, 2 citations for driving without a valid license, and 2 citations for expired registration."

The campaign was funded by federal traffic safety resources managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
