Six members of the Illinois men's golf team have been honored by the Big Ten Conference during its annual postseason awards announcement. The awards recognized the achievements of Jackson Buchanan, Max Herendeen, Ryan Voois, Jake Birdwell, Trey Marrion, and Ethan Wilson.
Among the notable awards, Jackson Buchanan, Max Herendeen, and Ryan Voois earned spots on the All-Big Ten First Team. Buchanan and Herendeen received unanimous selections. It was Buchanan's third consecutive time being named to this prestigious list, the second for Herendeen, and marked Voois’s first appearance on the first team. Illinois stood out as the only program to have three players on the first team.
Jake Birdwell and Trey Marrion made the Big Ten All-Freshman team. Ethan Wilson was honored with the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. Buchanan, the recipient of the 2025 Byron Nelson Award and Illinois’ Big Ten Medal of Honor, achieved notable rankings, including No. 36 in the NCAA Division I men's golf player rankings and a career-best stroke average. Herendeen maintained a leading stroke average of 70.75 and was recognized for his record-setting performances. Voois, with achievements including top finishes at key tournaments, continued to contribute significantly to the team's successes.
Birdwell demonstrated potential with a standout performance at the Big Ten Championship and Marrion consistently delivered strong results, including top-three finishes. Wilson was acknowledged for his season's performance, contributing to team victories.
The Big Ten Conference also announced its top honors for Golfer of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and Coach of the Year, awarded to Pablo Ereño, Baylor Larrabee, and Armen Kirakossian, respectively. The full list of All-Big Ten team members includes representatives from various universities.
