On Monday, May 5, 2025, the street sealing process is set to begin in Champaign, contingent on weather conditions. MicroSurfacing Contractors LLC will oversee the project targeting the southeast one-third of the city. Some residential streets will be closed for four hours for sealing and curing. Roads with higher traffic and those accommodating businesses will maintain one open lane throughout the process.
Residents are slated to receive door-to-door notifications a day before any street closures, advising them to park vehicles outside the designated work zones if necessary. There is a request to avoid parking on streets marked with "No Parking" signs from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The project completion is projected to take two weeks, with progress contingent on weather conditions.
