On April 23, 2025, city staff members from the Champaign Police Department and the Equity & Engagement Department attended an open house organized by One Hope United. This non-profit organization, based in Illinois, provides support to around 10,000 children each year through educational programs, family and youth assistance, and mental health services. The open house introduced One Hope United’s new venture, the Hope House, which aims to offer resources and support to children engaged in the child and family services system within the community.

During the event, city staff participated in a question-and-answer session with Hope House personnel, showing their commitment to understanding and collaborating with the new facility. The presence of Illinois State Senator Paul Faraci and his staff underscored the importance of the Hope House and the broader political and community support for vulnerable children and families in Champaign.
