Senior Stevie Meade, known for her bunting skills, is on the verge of breaking the program record for career sacrifices. She currently holds 30, just one shy of the all-time record.

Illinois introduced 13 new players this season, amalgamating freshmen and transfers, including Lizzie Stiverson and Karley Yergler. The team's roster is predominantly youthful, being the youngest in the Big Ten conference.
Head coach Tyra Perry is one of the few Black female head coaches in Division-I softball, sharing this distinction with two others in power conferences.
