The 89th edition of the Masters is set to take place at the prestigious Augusta National Golf Club. Two alumni from the Fighting Illini men's golf program, Brian Campbell and Thomas Detry, will be making their debut at the tournament, each having secured their inaugural PGA TOUR victories earlier this season. Campbell triumphed at the Mexico Open, while Detry claimed victory at the Phoenix Open.

Both players have been featured alongside other first-time participants in an article on Masters.com. The Illini Men's Golf team expressed pride in the golfers' accomplishments with a message: "Every golfer has their story and we are proud to be part of theirs."

Detry will be competing in Group 16 alongside Tony Finau and Maverick McNealy. Their tee-off is scheduled for 9:37 a.m. CT on Thursday. Campbell, who will play in Group 19 with Jose Maria Olazabal and Thirston Lawrence, begins his round at 10:10 a.m. CT.

Detry is recognized as the fourth Belgian player to compete in the Masters. He will follow in the footsteps of Flory Van Donck, Nicolas Colsaerts, and Thomas Pieters, a former teammate from the Illini. Detry's recent performances include top-15 finishes at major tournaments, including a T4 at the PGA Championship and a T14 at the U.S. Open last year.

For Campbell, this is his fourth appearance at a major championship. Notably, he earned low amateur honors at the 2015 U.S. Open held at Chambers Bay, finishing T27. His most recent major outing saw him finishing T56 at last season's U.S. Open.
