Four gymnasts from the University of Illinois have been recognized as All-Americans by the College Gymnastics Association (CGA) for the 2025 regular season. The announcement came on Tuesday, April 1, highlighting the achievements of athletes Brandon Dang, Ian Sandoval, Garrett Schooley, and Amari Sewell.
Selection for the All-American titles is based on the top eight performers in each category, determined by a four-score average according to Road to Nationals. In the event of a tie, the highest score achieved during the season served as the tiebreaker.
Brandon Dang received recognition for his performance on the pommel horse, having completed the regular season with an undefeated record of 7-0. This marks Dang's second consecutive year earning CGA All-American honors in this category.
Ian Sandoval achieved All-American status in the all-around competition, concluding the regular season ranked No. 2 nationally. Sandoval also received several other accolades throughout the season, including three-time CGA Rookie of the Week, two-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week, along with Big Ten and NCAA Gymnast of the Week awards.
Garrett Schooley and Amari Sewell both earned All-American titles on vault. Schooley secured four vault titles during the season, while Sewell contributed two titles.
The Fighting Illini will begin their postseason competition on April 4 at the Big Ten Championships in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The event is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Central Time.
