Illinois baseball is set to face Northwestern in a three-game series at Rocky and Berenice Miller Park in Evanston, Illinois. The series will begin with a doubleheader on Friday, March 21, starting at 11 a.m. CT.
The Fighting Illini recently concluded a five-game homestand with a 4-1 record, including an 8-6 victory over Indiana State. Jack Zebig and Jacob Schroeder contributed home runs during the game, while four relievers pitched scoreless innings.
Tyler Schmitt will start for Illinois in the first game of the series against Northwestern's Sam Hliboki. Ben Plumley and Regan Hall are also expected to pitch for Illinois during the series.
Illinois leads the all-time series against Northwestern with a record of 182-92 and has won 18 of the last 22 games played in Evanston. In their most recent matchup, Illinois defeated Northwestern 11-7 on April 21, 2024.
Northwestern enters the series with an 8-10 record after losing a series to Penn State. Trent Liolos has been leading Northwestern offensively with a .382 batting average, eight home runs, and 17 RBIs through 18 games this season.
