The Illinois swim team concluded their season at the CSCAA National Invitational Championships in Ocala, Florida, on March 15. Sydney Stoll broke her own school record in the 100 IM with a time of 55.01 seconds, finishing fourth in the A finals.
Head coach Jeana Kempe expressed pride in her team's performance. "I want to start off by saying how proud I am of these ladies and they are amazing women," Kempe stated. She acknowledged the entire team's efforts, highlighting their representation both in and out of the pool. "Over the past three years at CSCAA's we have placed 10th, eighth and now seventh," she noted.
Kempe also praised the contributions of seven seniors: Suvana Baskar, Laurel Bludgen, Paloma Canos Cervera, Logan Kuehne, Sydney Stoll, Jane Umhofer, and Molly Yetter. "They did everything we asked and helped get the program to where we are today," she said.
Chloe Diner achieved a personal best in the 100 IM with a time of 55.32 seconds, placing second in the program's record book for that event. Both Diner and Stoll were part of the 400 freestyle relay team that recorded the sixth-fastest time in program history (3:21.82), securing an eighth-place finish alongside teammates Molly Yetter and Isabella Wilhelm.
Liv Dorshorst finished 11th in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 16:46.32 and a 1000 split time of 10:10.49. The Illinois team secured seventh place overall out of 47 teams with a total score of 379 points.
The final standings saw Akron leading with 650 points, followed by Kentucky with 629 points and Rice with 599 points.
