The Fighting Illini swim team is preparing for the CSCAA National Invitational Championships scheduled to take place in Ocala, Florida. The event will run from Thursday to Saturday, March 13-15, at the FAST Facility. Each day of the competition will begin with preliminary heats at 8:30 a.m., followed by finals at 5 p.m. Central Time.
Athletes representing Illinois include Suvana Baskar, Chloe Diner, Liv Dorshorst, Kayla Duran, Sara Jass, Logan Kuehne, Sophia Paduano, Adelaide Reaser, Sydney Stoll, Isabella Wilhelm, Molly Yetter, and Sophia Yousuf.
In recent performances at the Big Ten Championship on February 22nd, the Illinois 400 freestyle relay team comprising Sydney Stoll, Molly Yetter, Logan Kuehne and Laurel Bludgen set a new school record. They finished in 12th place with a time of 3:20.56.
Additionally, during the preliminaries of the 200 backstroke event at the same championship meet, Sophia Paduano recorded the fifth-fastest time in school history with a time of 1:59.66. Kalina Nikolaeva followed closely behind with a time of 1:59.88 to secure her spot as having achieved the sixth-fastest mark in program history.
