The Illinois track and field team has announced the signing of Luuk Pelkmans, a U20 decathlon national champion. The Dutch athlete, who is six foot eight inches tall, will join the combined events team led by Petros Kyprianou.
Pelkmans has achieved personal bests of 7,490 points in the decathlon and 5,908 points in the heptathlon. These scores would place him second and third in the Illinois record book, respectively. His heptathlon score of 5,908 set on February 9, 2025, ranks him first in his age group.
