Illinois men's gymnastics to compete against Penn State in upcoming top-ten match

The Illinois men's gymnastics team, ranked No. 5, will face No. 6 Penn State on Saturday, March 8, at Huff Hall in Champaign. The meet is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on B1G+.

Illinois holds a record of 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the Big Ten conference this season. Their opponent, Penn State, also has a conference record of 1-1 and an overall record of 4-1. Last season, Illinois shared the regular-season Big Ten title after narrowly defeating Penn State.

Recently, Penn State achieved an upset victory over No. 2 Stanford at home with a score of 321.350 to Stanford's 314.450. The Nittany Lions excelled particularly on vault and high bar during that meet.

Illinois comes into this matchup following their victory against Greenville and Army at Huff Hall on March 1st, scoring a total of 316.700 points.

Brandon Dang from Illinois continues to perform well on the pommel horse and recently earned his third Big Ten Specialist of the Week honor this season.

Tate Costa enters his junior year motivated by past successes including winning the NCAA high bar title in April last year and competing in various national events since then.

Head Coach Daniel Ribeiro leads Illinois with a career record standing at .651 over three seasons so far.
