Brandon Dang has been named the College Gymnastics Association (CGA) Specialist of the Week for the third time this season. This recognition follows his recent Big Ten Specialist of the Week honor received on March 4.

Dang, a pommel horse specialist, secured his sixth title of the season with a score of 14.700 in a competition against Army and Greenville on March 1. This victory brings his career total to 14 titles. The gymnast from San Jose, California, currently ranks second nationally on pommel horse and first in the Big Ten.

This week marks Dang's first international assignment with USA Gymnastics in Baku, Azerbaijan, from March 6-9. Meanwhile, his team, Illinois, will compete at Huff Hall against No. 6 Penn State for Senior Day on March 8 at 1 p.m. CT.

The College Gymnastics Association also announced other weekly awards: Asher Hong from Nebraska was named Gymnast of the Week, and Kaleb Palacio from Springfield was recognized as Rookie of the Week.
