Artur Sitkowski has been promoted to co-quarterbacks coach for the Fighting Illini, as announced by head coach Bret Bielema. Sitkowski will collaborate with offensive coordinator Barry Lunney Jr. in managing the quarterbacks.
"Art continues to impress in our building every day," stated Bielema. "He brings an exceptional energy and passion for Illinois football, and we are excited to be able to promote him from within our program. His voice, knowledge, and demeanor will continue to be a great asset for our current student-athletes and also on the road in recruiting."
Lunney added, "Art's knowledge of our system and ability to coach, teach, and connect with our quarterbacks has been extremely important in the development of our offense. He is a special coach with unique leadership abilities. I am excited to continue our work together as we grow and develop our quarterbacks room."
Sitkowski expressed his gratitude: "I am extremely blessed and thankful for the opportunity from Coach Bielema and the staff to continue to be a part of this great organization and university. This university has changed my life because of the people in the Smith Center and around the Champaign-Urbana community. I am excited to continue to work and develop our quarterbacks and student-athletes not only in football but in life. ILL!"
Sitkowski concluded his second season on staff at Illinois, having served as assistant quarterbacks coach in 2024 after being a student assistant in 2023. His playing career included two seasons at Illinois under Bielema from 2021-22 following three years at Rutgers.
In 2024, Sitkowski contributed significantly as assistant quarterbacks coach when Illinois achieved a 10-3 record, tying its single-season wins record, with a final AP Top 25 ranking of #16. Under his guidance, quarterback Luke Altmyer led one of the nation's most efficient passing offenses.
During his college playing career, Sitkowski threw for 2,838 yards with 14 touchdowns across five seasons including stints at Rutgers and Illinois.
Sitkowski hails from Old Bridge, New Jersey where he played high school football before transferring to IMG Academy for his senior year.
