The Nashville Sports Council and ESPN Events have announced that Illinois volleyball will participate in the inaugural Broadway Block Party tournament. This event is scheduled for August 31, 2025, at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
This tournament will be the first women's collegiate volleyball event held at Bridgestone Arena. The Fighting Illini are set to play against Vanderbilt in the third match of the day. The Commodores will be opening their historic inaugural season with this game, which will be broadcast nationally on SEC Network.
The Big Ten Conference will have a strong presence at the event, with Purdue and Nebraska also participating.
The 2025 season marks the ninth year for head coach Chris Tamas with Illinois volleyball. Under his leadership, the team has achieved a record of 149-94 and has made five NCAA Tournament appearances.
