Illinois baseball is set to face Eastern Illinois in a midweek game at Illinois Field in Champaign on March 4. The Illini previously defeated the Panthers 12-2 on February 27, 2024, also in Champaign.
Over the weekend, Illinois participated in the Las Vegas College Baseball Classic where they recorded one win and two losses. They were defeated by Texas Tech and No. 15 Texas but managed a victory against Washington.
The upcoming game marks the 83rd meeting between Illinois and Eastern Illinois, with Illinois leading the series 56-26. The Illini have won six of their last eight encounters against Eastern Illinois.
Eastern Illinois enters this contest with a record of 3-6 after being swept by Austin Peay over the weekend. Chris Worcester leads their batting lineup while Tyler Conklin is noted for his pitching performance.

The Illini are currently excelling in stolen bases this season, having surpassed last year's total already. Cameron Chee-Aloy has been particularly successful with eight steals from eight attempts.
Head coach Dan Hartleb begins his milestone 20th season at the helm of Illinois baseball. Under his leadership, the team has amassed numerous accolades including three Big Ten championships.
