For the second time, Brandon Dang has been recognized as the College Gymnastics Association's Specialist of the Week. The announcement was made on Thursday, February 27. Previously, Dang received this honor on January 29, 2025.
Dang, a sophomore specializing in pommel horse, secured gold at the Winter Cup with a combined score of 28.350 over two days. He scored 14.000 on the first day and improved to 14.350 on the second day of competition. Following his performance, he was selected for the USA Gymnastics Senior National Team.
The San Jose native is set to participate in three international events for the FIG World Cup Series: Baku, Azerbaijan from March 6-9; Antalya, Turkey from March 20-23; and Cairo, Egypt from April 25-28.
In addition to his CGA accolade, Dang was named Big Ten's Specialist of the Week on February 25.
Dang and his team will compete again on March 1 at Huff Hall against Army and Greenville at 1 p.m. CT during Pride Night. Post-meet activities include their annual Ninja Warrior competition.
Other CGA Weekly Awards announced include Taylor Christopulos from Nebraska as Gymnast of the Week and Caden Clinton also from Nebraska as Rookie of the Week.
