The Illinois track and field teams are gearing up for the Big Ten Indoor Championships, scheduled to take place from February 28 to March 1 at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion in Indianapolis. The women's team is currently ranked fifth nationally, while the men's team holds the tenth spot.

The women's team is aiming to defend their title as Big Ten Indoor Champions, a feat they achieved last season for the first time since 2013. If successful, it would mark their first consecutive championship wins since 1992 and 1993.

Leading the women’s squad are Tacoria Humphrey and Rose Yeboah. Both athletes hold third-place national rankings in their respective events, with Humphrey setting a school record in long jump at 6.78 meters and Yeboah achieving a school record high jump of 1.91 meters.

On the men's side, Jip de Greef and Viktor Morozov lead the charge. De Greef has secured the nation's second-best heptathlon score with 6,070 points. Morozov boasts top-10 national marks in both triple jump (16.35 meters) and long jump (7.88 meters).

Other notable performances include Lucie Kienast in pentathlon, Sophia Beckmon in long jump, Phethisang Makhethe in weight throw, Tori Thomas in pole vault, Cody Johnston also in pole vault for men, and Tyler Sudduth in shot put.
