Illinois swim and dive team heads to Louisville for Last Chance Meet

The Fighting Illini swim and dive team is preparing to compete in the Last Chance Meet in Louisville, Kentucky. The event will take place on Friday, February 28, and Saturday, March 1. Preliminaries are scheduled for 9 a.m., with finals set for 4 p.m. each day.

The team members traveling to Louisville include Gwen Bakker, Gianna Cappello, Taylor Judas, Abby Ninan, Kylee Sessions, Sophia Yousuf, Maggie Adler, Marin McAndrew, and Elleka Boeres.

At the recent Big Ten Championships on February 19, Maggie Adler contributed significantly by swimming the program's second-fastest time of 7:13.32 as part of the team's overall 11th-place finish.

In their last home meet against Eastern Illinois on February 1, Sophia Yousuf claimed victory in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:50.71. Additionally, the team started strong with a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay by Suvana Baskar, Gwen Bakker, Abby Ninan, and Marin McAndrew at a time of 1:43.84. Adler also achieved success by winning the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.79.
