Illini women's golf finishes sixth at The Chevron Collegiate

Fighting Illini women's golf team concluded The Chevron Collegiate with a strong performance, securing sixth place at the Golf Club of Houston. They achieved a 54-hole team total of 847 (-17), climbing four spots on the final day with a 13-under (275) round. This score is the second-lowest team round in program history, just two strokes shy of their record set in February 2022.

Victoria Zheng led the Illini, tying for 12th place after shooting a third-round 70 (-2) to finish at 6-under. She recorded five birdies on the final day, totaling 12 for the tournament. Her par-5 scoring average was tied for third-lowest among competitors.

Brielle Mapanao finished tied for 20th with a third-round score of 69 (-3). She also recorded five birdies and maintained a strong performance throughout the event, achieving her third sub-70 round this season.

Yurang Li shot a 71 (-1) in her final round to tie for 25th place. Li's consistent play included making 42 pars and having one of the top scoring averages on par-3 holes.

Lexanne Halama also scored under par with a round of 69 (-3), moving up significantly on the leaderboard to finish tied for 31st. Anna Ritter achieved her career-best score with a final round of 67 (-5), finishing tied for 25th after moving up dramatically from earlier rounds.

TCU claimed victory in team honors at The Chevron Collegiate with an overall score of -34 (830), while Vanessa Borovilos from Texas A&M secured individual honors at -15 (201).

The Fighting Illini will compete next at the Spring Break Shootout on March 17 in Dade City, Florida.
