Illinois achieved a decisive 81-61 victory over Iowa at the State Farm Center on Tuesday night. The team led by as many as 24 points, with four players scoring in double figures.
Tomislav Ivisic led the Illini with 22 points, shooting 9-for-13 and adding five assists, four rebounds, and a block. "Scoring in double figures for the 17th time this season," Ivisic was pivotal in establishing an early lead. Tre White contributed 14 points, while Will Riley and Kylan Boswell each added 15 points to the scoreboard.
The Illini started strong, forcing four turnovers within the first five minutes and quickly gaining a 12-4 advantage. Iowa responded with an 11-0 run but couldn't maintain momentum against Illinois' defense.
By halftime, Illinois held a seven-point lead at 37-30. A quick start to the second half increased their lead to double digits once more. Despite some pushback from Iowa, Illinois maintained control throughout the game.
The win improves Illinois' record to 10-8 in conference play. They will next face Michigan on Sunday.
Coach Brad Underwood expressed satisfaction with his team's performance: "We took care of the ball tonight, committing only five turnovers."
With this victory, Illinois secured its sixth consecutive season finishing .500 or better in Big Ten play. The Illini also extended their winning streak against Iowa at home.
The match drew a crowd of 15,544 fans, marking Illinois' seventh consecutive sellout game this season.
