The Illinois men's and women's track teams are set to compete in the distance medley relay (DMR) at the Alex Wilson Invitational, taking place on Saturday, February 22, at the Loftus Sports Center in South Bend, Indiana.
The men's DMR team comprises Nicolas Dovalovsky, Jackson Gilbert, Tadeas Placek, and Will Merrick. Merrick holds the school record for the 1000m with a time of 2:22.72, while Dovalovsky has achieved the second-fastest time in this event with 2:22.74. Gilbert recorded the program's eighth-fastest 400m time of 46.64, and Placek posted the tenth-fastest 800m time of 1:48.92 during their recent performance at the Tyson Invitational.
On the women's side, Halle Hill, Azariyah Bryant, Sam Poglitsch, and Kennady Anderson will represent Illinois in the DMR event. Hill recently broke two school records: she completed a 1000m race in 2:44.22 at the Fighting Illini Challenge and Combined Events and finished a mile race in 4:32.86 at Boston University's David Hemery Valentine Invitational last weekend. Poglitsch also ran an impressive fourth-fastest program time of 2:49.28.
Both teams are looking forward to showcasing their talents at this prestigious meet.
