Thomas Detry and Thomas Pieters, both former University of Illinois golfers, are making headlines in the professional golf world with recent achievements.

Detry clinched his first PGA Tour victory at the WM Phoenix Open, finishing seven strokes ahead at 24-under par. This win marked him as the first Belgian player to achieve a PGA Tour victory. As a result, Detry climbed 36 spots to reach No. 22 in the Official World Golf Rankings, marking a career high. He currently ranks second in the FedEx Cup standings after five events in the 2025 season and has secured qualifications for several major tournaments including THE PLAYERS Championship, Masters, and PGA Championship.

The Genesis Invitational, part of the PGA Tours Signature Event series where Detry is set to compete next, will be held at Torrey Pines (South Course) due to recent fires in Los Angeles. Detry previously finished T33 at this event in 2023 and has participated three times at Torrey Pines for the Farmers Insurance Open.

Meanwhile, Thomas Pieters is participating in his second LIV Golf season event in Adelaide, Australia. Representing 4Aces GC, he recently delivered his team's top performance with a 9-under finish tied for 18th place under lights in Riyadh. This marks Pieters' third appearance at The Grange Golf Club where he previously finished T14 last season.

On another front of professional golf tours, Luke Guthrie continues his efforts on the Korn Ferry Tour with a tie for 59th place finish at the Astara Golf Championship in Bogota, Colombia. Currently ranked No. 32 on the Korn Ferry Tour points list, Guthrie prepares for his next competition at the Visa Argentina Open scheduled from February 27 to March 2.
