Ian Sandoval, a freshman gymnast from Illinois, has been recognized as the CGA Rookie of the Week following his performance against Nebraska on January 31, 2025. This accolade was announced by the CGA on February 5.

Sandoval achieved career highs in three events: floor (13.600), parallel bars (13.500), and high bar (13.050). His efforts contributed to Illinois' narrow victory over Nebraska with a score of 321.300 to 320.800.

This is Sandoval's second consecutive CGA Rookie of the Week award. He has also received multiple honors this week, including Big Ten Freshman of the Week and Gymnast of the Week on February 4, and Inside Gymnastics' NCAA Gymnast of the Week on February 3.

The Illinois team is scheduled to compete again on Saturday, February 8, in Ann Arbor against the No. 7 ranked Wolverines at 1 p.m. CT.

In other CGA Weekly Awards announced for February 4, Isaiah Drake from Navy was named Gymnast of the Week and Aidan Li from California received Specialist of the Week honors.
