Illinois senior swimmer Sydney Stoll has been named the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week, as announced by the conference on January 22. Stoll is the first Illinois athlete to receive this recognition since Abigail Cabush in October 2019.

Stoll's recent performance was marked by breaking her own school record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 53.97 seconds during a meet against Nebraska. She also claimed victories in every individual event she competed in over the weekend, including the 100 freestyle (49.86) and 200 freestyle (1:47.54) against Nebraska, as well as the 100 freestyle (50.81), 100 butterfly (54.92), and 100 backstroke (55.09) against Iowa.

In addition to her individual successes, Stoll contributed to her team's victory in the 400 medley relay, achieving a time of 3:43.07 at Iowa, which ranks as the program's tenth-fastest time.
