The Illinois swim and dive team faced a narrow defeat against Iowa, with a final score of 151-149, in their dual meet on Friday. Despite the loss, Sydney Stoll delivered an impressive performance by winning all her events. She began the day by leading off the team's 10th-fastest 400 medley relay alongside teammates Kayla Duran, Chloe Diner, and Isabella Wilhelm, clocking in at 3:43.07. Stoll also secured victories in the 100 freestyle (50.81), 100 butterfly (54.92), and 100 backstroke (55.09).
In other events, Sara Jass claimed first place in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:51.58 and took second place in both the 200 breaststroke (2:16.58) and the 200 IM (2:02.58). Wilhelm finished second in both the 50 freestyle (23.80) and the 100 freestyle (52.10).
Freshmen Chloe Diner and Kayla Duran achieved second and third places respectively in the 100 breaststroke, while juniors Alexis Wendel and Adelaide Reaser mirrored this result in the 200 butterfly.
Liv Dorshorst earned second place in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:01.98 and third place in the 1000 freestyle at 10:18.60.
On diving boards, Dani O'Kelly led Illinois divers by placing third on three-meter boards with a score of 269.65 and fourth on one-meter boards scoring at 266.20.
The competition concluded with a victory for Illinois's team consisting of Logan Kuehne, Laurel Bludgen, Isabella Wilhelm, and Molly Yetter who won the final event -the 200 freestyle relay- finishing at 1:33.97.
Illinois will compete again tomorrow against Nebraska at Lincoln starting from 11 a.m CT.
