Illini alumni impact Week 16 NFL games with key performances

Stats and notes from former University of Illinois players in the NFL were highlighted during Week 16 of the 2024 season. Several Illini alumni made significant contributions to their respective teams.

Isaiah Adams, an offensive lineman for the Arizona Cardinals, started at right guard and played all offensive and special teams snaps in a game that ended with a 36-30 loss to the Carolina Panthers. Meanwhile, Tony Adams, a safety for the New York Jets, recorded five tackles, a pass breakup, and an interception before leaving due to injury during their 19-9 defeat against the Los Angeles Rams.

Nick Allegretti started at left guard for the Washington Commanders, participating in all offensive snaps in their close 36-33 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. Chase Brown, playing as a running back for the Cincinnati Bengals, gained 91 rushing yards on 18 carries and added 18 receiving yards in their 24-6 win against the Cleveland Browns.

Sydney Brown took part in special teams plays for the Eagles but could not prevent their loss to Washington. In contrast, Tommy DeVito did not see action as his New York Giants lost to Atlanta.

In other performances, Kendrick Green participated in special teams plays during Houston Texans' loss to Kansas City Chiefs. Kerby Joseph was active defensively for Detroit Lions in their victory over Chicago Bears. Ted Karras helped anchor Cincinnati's offensive line against Cleveland.

The Washington Commanders saw notable efforts from Quan Martin and Jer'Zhan Newton on defense contributing to their win over Philadelphia. Vederian Lowe held down left tackle duties for New England Patriots despite losing narrowly to Buffalo Bills.

Kicker Chase McLaughlin contributed points for Tampa Bay Buccaneers though they fell short against Dallas Cowboys. Dawuane Smoot's defensive efforts aided Buffalo's win over New England Patriots.

The Minnesota Vikings benefited from Jihad Ward's participation on defense leading them past Seattle Seahawks. Devon Witherspoon stood out defensively for Seattle Seahawks despite their narrow loss.
