Raina Terry, a standout player for Illinois volleyball, has been recognized as an All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for the first time in her five-year career. Terry has been named to the AVCA Third Team All-American, becoming the 23rd player in Fighting Illini volleyball history to receive this honor.

Terry's impressive career includes being an AVCA All-Region honoree and one of five unanimous selections to the All-Big Ten First Team. She concluded her collegiate career with 2,138 kills, 2,522 points, and 220 aces, all of which are records in Illinois volleyball history.

During the regular season, Terry led the league with an average of 5.27 points per set and ranked second with a total of 579.5 points. Her performance also placed her third in both aces (56) and total kills (486) within the Big Ten.

With only national semifinals and finals remaining at that point in time, Terry's statistics included ranking first in conference points per set at 5.26 and placing second in total points with 599.5 nationally. Her service line strikes were third in the league and she was among the top ranks nationally as well.

Terry's achievements extend beyond these statistics; she recorded double-figure kills in nearly every match this season and led her team in kills during most games. Notably, she is distinguished as the only Big Ten player surpassing both 2,000 kills and 200 aces.

Her performances against high-ranking teams were remarkable. In matches against Nebraska, Terry led all players in kills twice. Against Wisconsin's top-ranked players like Sarah Franklin and Anna Smrek, Terry outperformed them significantly during their encounter.

In another significant game against Penn State—ranked No.4 at that time—Terry achieved notable feats including hitting .500 efficiency while recording more combined kills than two opposing All-Americans Jess Mruzik and Camryn Hannah.

Adding to her accolades this year was being drafted into professional play; on November 25th last year she became Illinois' first-ever draftee selected by Columbus Fury during Pro Volleyball Federation draft where she secured position number eleven overall pick slot-wise speaking about such events happening recently enough so still fresh news today!
