Illinois volleyball concluded their regular season with a loss against Indiana on Friday night at Wilkinson Hall. The Fighting Illini, now holding an 18-11 overall record and a 10-10 mark in the Big Ten Conference, were defeated by the Hoosiers in straight sets. This victory brought Indiana to a balanced 15-15 overall with an 8-12 conference record.
Raina Terry was the standout player for Illinois, recording 10 kills and nearly achieving a double-double. Cari Bohm contributed significantly at the net with five blocks.
The match began with Illinois trailing early as Indiana took a 15-10 lead by the media break. Despite efforts to close the gap, including an ace from Lily Barry during a three-point run, Illinois lost the first set 25-21 after falling behind again at crucial moments.
In the second set, Illinois called for an early timeout while trailing by one point at 10-9 following Indiana's scoring run. The Illini couldn't regain momentum and dropped this set as well, finishing at 25-19.
Indiana maintained their performance into the third set, starting strong with four consecutive points leading to a score of 12-8. Although Illinois managed to tie the score briefly through Bohm's kill at 14-all, they eventually fell behind once more and lost both the set and match after concluding this frame at 25-18.
Notable points from this match include Raina Terry ending her regular season with double-digit kills in all but one of Illinois' matches. Additionally, Coach Chris Tamas has now accumulated an all-time record of 11 wins against three losses when facing Indiana.
