Former Illinois quarterback Kurt Kittner will take on the role of honorary captain for the Illinois football team in their upcoming game against Michigan State. The match is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on FS1.
Kittner, who played for Illinois from 1998 to 2001, led the team to significant victories during his tenure. His senior year was marked by a Big Ten title win in 2001 and an appearance in the 2002 Sugar Bowl, marking Illinois' debut in the Bowl Championship Series with a record of 10-2.
Originating from Schaumburg, Kittner departed Illinois holding four school records: career total offense, career and single-season touchdown passes, and career passing attempts. His performance earned him a spot on the All-Big Ten Second Team after leading the conference with 3,256 passing yards and 27 passing touchdowns as a senior.
