Illinois graduate student Raina Terry has set a new milestone in the university's volleyball program. As an outside hitter, Terry became the first player to achieve 2,000 kills in the team's history. This achievement was reached during the Fighting Illini volleyball team's victory over USC, ranked 20th at the time, in a five-set match held at Huff Hall.
In this match against the Trojans, Terry delivered a standout performance with a match-high of 18 kills. This victory marked Illinois' first win over a ranked opponent for the season. Following this success, Terry led her team to another win by contributing 10 kills in a sweep against Ohio State on Saturday night.
Raina Terry is pursuing a master's degree in recreation, sport, and tourism. She has maintained consistent performance by achieving double-digit kills in 12 consecutive matches. For her accomplishments and academic dedication, Terry has been named Prairie Farms Scholar Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.
