Fighting Illini senior golfer Jackson Buchanan has been named to the final fall watch list for the 2024-25 Haskins Award, as announced by the Haskins Foundation. The award is given annually to the top male U.S. collegiate golfer, selected by college golfers, coaches, and golf media members.

Buchanan, who was named Big Ten Golfer of the Year previously, secured a spot on the preseason watch list in September. He also received first-team All-America honors from Golfweek and Golf Channel at that time. Throughout the early season, Buchanan led his team to notable achievements including a win at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational and two runner-up finishes at both Folds of Honor Collegiate and Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational. The Fighting Illini finished their first half of the season with a record of 52-14-1.

Originating from Buford, Georgia, Buchanan boasts a stroke average of 70.0 over five tournaments this season. He claimed his fourth collegiate victory at Fallen Oak and achieved third-place finishes at Folds of Honor and Steelwood Collegiate events. His three top-three placements are tied for most nationwide. Additionally, he finished in the top ten in four out of five events this year.

Buchanan holds significant rankings: No. 6 in PGA Tour University rankings, No. 11 in World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), and No. 13 in NCAA Division I men's golf rankings.
