The Illinois football team has unveiled special helmets for Military Appreciation Day, designed to honor those who have served in the military. The No. 24-ranked Fighting Illini will wear these helmets during their game against Minnesota on Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Champaign, Illinois.

The helmet design includes several features that pay tribute to military service members. Ten stars encircle the helmet logo, symbolizing the ten Fighting Illini football players who lost their lives during World War II and the Vietnam War. Additionally, a stripe on the helmet lists the names of 189 students and alumni who died in World War I; these individuals are also commemorated on the columns of Memorial Stadium.

Furthermore, each helmet bears a POW/MIA sticker to recognize Americans who were prisoners of war or went missing in action.

Tickets for Saturday's game can be purchased through FightingIllini.com.
