We at Chambana Sun, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, have asked for the records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. We have requested this information preferably in an electronic format.
The specific details requested include a list of all council members with their names, titles, years they were appointed, their term lengths (whether it is 2 or 4 years), and the dates when their terms expire.
As a media organization dedicated to reporting news to the public, access to public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
