FOIA Request Sent to City of Gibson Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024

FOIA Request to City of Gibson Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.

In our continuous effort to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Chambana Sun have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140).

The request, sent electronically, seeks information about all parking violations currently unpaid within the jurisdiction of the City of Gibson. The specifics requested include the name of the offender, their address, the amount due for each violation, the date of violation, and total amount due.

As a media organization committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to such public records is essential for us. We believe that these records will shed light on how effectively parking regulations are being enforced in the city and whether there are any patterns or trends that need attention.

Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional. We eagerly await a response from the City of Gibson and look forward to sharing this information with our readers.

We remain open for any questions or clarifications needed regarding this request.
