Illinois swim team excels at House of Paign Invite against Vanderbilt and Indiana State

The Illinois swim and dive team concluded the House of Paign Invite at the ARC Pool in Champaign, Illinois, on Saturday. Freshman Chloe Diner achieved a top-10 program mark in the 50 breaststroke super final, clocking the seventh-fastest time for the program at 29.39 seconds. She also secured first place in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:17.57.

Illinois emerged victorious against Vanderbilt with a score of 232-101 and Indiana State with a score of 250.5-135.5.

In relay events, the Illinois team featuring freshman Sophia Paduano, Chloe Diner, and seniors Sydney Stoll and Laurel Bludgen earned a silver medal in the 400 medley (3:48.08). Stoll claimed victory in both the all-or-nothing 50 butterfly super final (25.04) and the 200 freestyle (1:50.12). Sophomore Liv Dorshorst narrowly won the 500 freestyle by .14 seconds (4:59.41), while freshman Taylor Judas finished third (5:04.00).

Junior Sara Jass triumphed in the 400 IM with a time of 4:20.17 and came second in the 200 breaststroke (2:19.43). Sophomore Kalina Nikolaeva placed third in the 200 backstroke (2:05.71). The team's performance was rounded off by securing silver in the 200 freestyle relay through freshman Isabella Wilhelm, senior Logan Kuehne, Sydney Stoll, and senior Molly Yetter (1:35.53).

On diving boards, sophomore Elle Crisostomo led her peers to secure top positions in the three-meter dive event with a gold-winning score of 260.25.

The next challenge for Illinois is an away dual meet against Southern Illinois on November 2nd at Carbondale.
