Director of Illinois track, field, and cross country Petros Kyprianou has announced the addition of Morgan Smalls from LSU to the team. Smalls is a three-time First-Team All-American, with her most recent accolade coming in the long jump at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Championships where she placed sixth with a jump of 6.47 meters.
Before achieving All-American status that season, Smalls earned Second-Team All-SEC honors in the long jump at the 2022 SEC Outdoor Championships with a leap of 6.58 meters. Additionally, she is a three-time USTFCCCA First-Team All-American and has been named seven times as a USTFCCCA Second-Team All-American.
Smalls began her collegiate career at USC, where she became a Pac-12 Champion in the high jump during the 2021 Pac-12 Outdoor Championships with a height of 1.83 meters. Her personal bests include marks of 1.91 meters in the high jump, 6.58 meters in the long jump, and 13.17 meters in the triple jump.
